There's something about Mary-Anne...

She's got to be the only woman I know who rides around London on a 650 cc Kawaski engine listening to dubstep and she's gorgeous and glamourous to boot. Read more about Mary-Anne Hobb's toy of choice plus her dubstep addiction in her recent article for Notion Mag out now in all good retailers. Amongst a whole ream of heavyweight places and faces that she talks about in the piece, Drumzofthesouth's Breezeblock Dubstep Warz photos even get a shout. Bless!

Digital & Mystikz

I remember hearing dubstep for the first time and being reminded of old Digital beats. I've also heard many people proclaim DMZ as the new Blue Note. In what appears to be a beautifully serendipitous occurance, both DMZ (Mala and Loefah) and Metalheadz (Digital) are set to play at Bash, in what I can only imagine will be one hell of a joint homage to the dub-wise vibes that have influenced both sounds.

Gis A Clue Kid...

Norwood Train Team
Originally uploaded by infinite.
He rocks one of the baddest hair-styles in dubstep. Alright, so it's not in it's full glory in this photo but trust me, when the do is done, it's Sonic the Hedgehog merkage. It's already so famous that even Joe Nice all the way in Baltimore is threatening to draw for the Clue Do. At 17, Norwood's Clue Kid is also one of the scene's freshest and most promising soundmen around with Chef, N-Type, Loefah and Kode9 amongst those who have already noticed his highly individual styles and openminded approach to vocals. Keep your ears pinned for Noz and Cloud Nine as well as various vocal collaborations with Cotti, Beezy and Lady Charlotte aka Arorah (pictured).

The Mini Babybel train sniper

Practice Hours
Originally uploaded by infinite. The Crystal Palace to Victoria train on the way to meet the DMZ Leeds road trip bus back in February.

The thoughtful sniper before me had kindly left his self constructed Babybel wrapper target up on the window for me to practice my aim but those familiar London tower blocks are quite difficult to pin down from the fast train. Captured some still though. That's 10 points and an extra life to the "I bumped into you on the Norwood train" team. Out to Clue Kid and Charlotte (see above).

Nevermind the barnet

Maybe in light of my 25th year of life and thus the desire to shed the old George, or maybe just cos I'm too easily convinced by hairdressers that they can make this dahling look Fabulous, I've had my trademark tresses cut off and restyled into some Shoreditch-esque creation.

Some of those who've noticed it have put my lack of content on drumz lately down to too much time spent flicking the long blonde / red / brown bits around... Alright, so I have been doing that a lot, but really and truly my neglect of my online home is because my computer can no longer cope with me uploading hundreds of photos every week.

With this in mind.... Please be patient, I've been taking note of the emails and comments asking where my photos from Transmission, Bash and DMZ are and I assure you that normal service will be resumed as soon as I get this frustrating shit sorted out. Thanks for the continued interest and support, it's most appreciated!

In case you haven't already seen www.dubstepforum.com or Martin Clark's latest Pitchfork column... DMZ's birt'day bash was so packed that we were lifted them all the way up to the main room of Mass which was a complete surprise for everyone involved... words can't really describe the feeling of moving from DMZ's familiar, homely 3rd Base to the grand arena that is Mass- the change of scenery was a shock to the system but soon felt kinda wicked as the ever deepening bass yet again had more space inwhich to breathe. Big up Mala, Coki, Loefah and Poax whose pure determination and love has made their dance as special as it is, and of course, big up's to everyone else involved, it's a community thing for real. I'm lookin foward to seein what the next one's all about, but either way, what an unforgettable celebration of DMZ's 1st year of existence.

On the subject of birt'day's, there's a helluva lot lately. Love to my fellow Pisceans and/or Martians- Kode9, Jamie Vex'd, Elbow Bones, Joe Nice, Gutterbreakz, DQ, Mek, Ben Kei, Chris Instinct, Franck Piano Magic...anyone else I've missed out.

Peace and see ya later x
